Neuropsychology studies the structure and function of the brain related to psychological processes and behaviors. The term has been applied to lesion studies in humans and animals. It has also been applied to efforts to record electrical activity from individual cells or brain structures in higher primates including humans. It shares information processing models of the mind with cognitive psychology and cognitive science. Clinical practice of neuropsychology involves assessing or treating patients with neuropsychological problems in medical, private practice, or forensic settings or industry - for example, in research for drugs that might have a potential impact on CNS functioning.
